A Government Employee Reacts to the Earthquake

Just after today's earthquake I headed outside to get a sense for how people were reacting.

The earthquake did give a big jolt, but it was over and done with in seconds. Californians would have been back to work in ten to fifteen minutes, if they had stopped working at all. In D.C. there were pockets of panic.

At one point, next to me on the sidewalk was a woman who was wearing a GAO employee badge . She was in panic and repeating, "No one is telling us what to do." Finally, I broke the news to her and said, "Obama's on vacation and I don't think he left anybody in charge." She looked even more horrified.

    LOL! I needed a good laugh after learning that Nick Ashford - of the dynamic duo "Ashford and Simpson" - passed away.

    He - along with his wife Valerie Simpson - are two of my favorite songwriters and entertainers of all time!
