The Strange Orange Hue of Fort Knox Gold

Think there is gold in Fort Knox? Listen to Bill Still's thoughts on the matter.

  1. Robert,
Assuming it's either there, not there or if it's "loaned" out Why does the Fed continue to value it's gold assets way below market value?

Is it just me or does it seem like the Fed won't mark it's gold assets to market because it's really not there?

  2. Is Bill Still a greenbacker? I think I saw his Money Masters documentary few years ago on Google Video. In it he advocated paper money issued by the state treasury. Backed by gold I hope, but not for a free market in currency.

  3. Ugh, Bill Still?

I remember when 'Money Masters' came out, I found some good info, but I also thought at the time that the film had a "greenbacker" vibe to it. When his other documentary came out, 'The Secret of Oz', it was no longer hidden that it was all about support for fiat paper money. I got as far as the part discussing tally sticks before I couldn't take any more (they try to make the case that tally sticks were fiat money).

  4. Sure, the fellow may be a greenbacker.

But, I like thoughtful, substantiated claims on important topics, and this seems like such.

Do not throw out the baby with the bathwater, here.

  5. @Jaffi...

Yea, those goofy English tally sticks...now I remember...somewhere mixed in with those lists of Google videos is something Lew Rockwell and the Mises Institute put together 15 or so years ago called "Money, Banking, and the Federal Reserve". Stick with that.

  6. I doubt Fort Knox is mostly empty. This would entail a conspiracy of very large proportions - at the FED, Treasury, Fort Knox personnel, and transport people - with many going to their deaths with the knowledge. They may be short, have gold loaned or otherwise encumbered, but I really don't believe (mostly) empty.

  7. Gold in Fort Knox? Social Security Trust Fund? "A Kentucky woman boasted to a Texan that there was so much gold in Fort Knox that you could build a wall of solid gold 10 feet high all around Texas. The Texan answered, "Well you just go ahead and build it, little lady, and if Ah like it, why Ah'll buy it."

  8. Try and watch "The Secret of Oz" and not run to gobble some tums and pepsid. He raves about the Continental Dollar and Greenbacks and Tally Sticks. Like Congress could be trusted with the creation and level of supply of money. Just another MMT(chartalist)whack like Ellen Brown. IF you watch his full interview with Keiser he also attacks Ron Paul about his gold and silver legal tender constitution statements. I agree with his distaste for banks and fractional reserve currency but to attack the gold or silver standard to promote government created fiat currency. GIVE ME A BREAK!

  9. The Nazis stole gold from the teeth of Jews... Roosevelt stole everyone's gold except gold teeth.

Ain't Stupid-Monkey Violence/Democracy wonderful? You have to admit it is better than TV.

  10. If the vaults were full could we ever redeem our "notes"? Answer: "No!"

Conversely, our "notes" are indeed redeemable. It would take twenty 1913 dollars to redeem an ounce of gold. Today the rate is $1665/oz. Redeem your "notes" today! Buy gold. Whether the vaults are full or empty only tells us the date of the theft. (that they sold it in the past" or still have it to sell to us in the future.)

  11. Yes, he's a greenbacker and I have had a hard time listening to him in interviews before when he promotes fiat currency. I don't believe he understands free market economics very well, but this information does seem legit.

  12. He and Ellen Brown are the main two greenbackers that I know of. I still appreciate the education I got from Bill and the moneymasters site when I was first learning about the Fed a year ago. However, they are both fine with big-government and somehow don't think Treasury issued money would be inflationary....

  13. He's best when Still is wagging a pencil at the camera. But I still like him here as a notable documentary maker on a very interesting topic.

  14. Russia Today is FSB...you understand that right? Not saying pro or con about the above content, just that it might be wise for alternative media to not suckle at RT/FSB's bosom so much...

  15. The last of "gold" in Fort Knowx was sold during JFK's presidency when his Dem.Finanace guy, Engelhard, bought it all for $35 an ounce and sold it for twice that, even three times that, with the connivance of the Republican Party regulars, especially the contingent from New Jersey. The rest is industrial history, especially his connection with the auto industry, the new anti-pollutant mufflers!

  16. bill still says 'good deposit' but means 'good delivery' gold.

all this stuff he says is known by now (but not widely known). based on what i've read, there is probably *some* gold in fort knox, much of it of low purity. all the good stuff is probably loaned or leased out. i don't recall if any of it is owned by foreign governments and central banks, or if they keep that in new york.

anyhow, i think this topic deserves more attention. i've also read that the US uses the gold that foreign governments (like germany) deposit in new york as a 'tool of foreign policy' (aka blackmail). i would appreciate more blog posts on this topic.
