I am saying this a bit tongue and cheek, but sometimes I think Michelle Bachmann is a Mitt Romney plant whose job it is to takeout threats to a Romney nomination. She did a great job of going after Rick Perry on his mandate to vaccinate girls, and in last night's debate, she attacked the core of Herman Cain's tax plan. She got a little carried away with flipping 9-9-9 upside down, but other than that, her take on Cain creating a new tax pipeline, and a sales tax slipping into a value added tax, were spot on.
Also during the debate, Cain confirmed that his plan will be revenue neutral, which means with all his shifting around of the types of taxes charged, taxes won't drop by even one penny.

Robert, did you notice how Romney used his question to throw a softball to Bachmann? I think you may be on to something. At the very least, Romney may be reaching out to Bachmann to run as his VP.
ReplyDeleteIt's an amazing coincidence that after all the number crunching of his "economic experts," all the rates worked out to be "9". What are the chances?!
ReplyDeleteWhen you look at Bachmann's base, the flipping "999" wasn't really getting carried away, and although it was cast as a joke, I'm betting it wasn't really a joke. The hard-core evangelicals take that stuff seriously, and it wouldn't surprise me if she was just making sure they got the connection.
