10,000 People at Macy's Herald Square Midnight Openimg

Macy's CEO Terry Lundgren tells Bloomberg's Margaret Brennan that 10,000 people were at the midnight opening of the Herald Square store.

I have no idea if this has any meaning for the economy, a reflection on current society, both or neither.

UPDATE from Becky Quick at CNBC:

Mall of America had 15,000 people waiting to get in at midnight.
