#OWS and #OccupyWallStreet are blocked from Trending topics. But its great to know that twitter lets #MyDickIn3WordsOrLess take first place
UPDATE from NY Daily News
Brooklyn-bound traffic on Brooklyn Bridge roadway is closed because of protesters. Protesters are walking on the bridge.
UPDATE 2: Caught SEIU, the union with close ties to President Obama, aggressively promoting focus on the protest. They tweet:
SEIU SEIU
MT @NBCNewYork: Chopper 4 has moved to Foley Square, where thousands of #OWS protesters are gathered. Watch live: bit.ly/rK2V2d #N17
i may be mistaken, but i'm fairly sure that twitter just has an algorithm that, rather than just picking up on the volume of any hashtag, goes in for novelty. Since this movement is no longer "new" (compared to the lightening with which the internet moves), it won't be able to make it onto the trends
ReplyDeleteTwitter blocks stuff all the time. Nothing to see here.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny, I keep hearing about that algorithm. But I remember when #Inception was trending for weeks after the movie came out.
ReplyDeleteDidn't the Twitter founder(s) meet with Obama in that famous Silicon Valley dinner not too long ago?
RE: SEIU
ReplyDeleteThere are plenty of occupiers who know the deal.
or beiber trending everyday for nearly two years. some algorithm.
