U.S. Park Police in riot gear and on horseback entered the McPherson Square encampment in Northwest D.C. this morning around 5:30 a.m. and began collecting pallets and other items from the campers, reports WaPo.
Helicopters hovered overhead and a firehose was rolled out by police as the protesters watched. Police have told the Occupiers that they they want them to clear area around the camp’s tarp-covered “Tent of Dreams.”
Despite the massive police presence, the protesters are being told that police officials will check the tents for sleeping gear and leave.
