There's an article in today's Palm Beach Post about Alex Trebek, the host of "Jeopardy!", that portrays him as neither a Hollywood liberal (i.e., commie) nor a neocon (i.e., fascist). He thinks that "perpetual peace . . . is a great idea" and that the big question for the future is "how to achieve peace." (Charles Krauthammer, don't forget to take your meds!!). Unlike the BushObama establishmentarian line, Trebek does not contend that endless warfare all over the world is the way to achieve peace.Trebek, who is a highly educated man, is said to have "bristled at the iffy merits of Bill O'Reilly's [book] Killing Lincoln." (There is nothing about Lincoln in the book, by the way. It is merely a reashing of what dozens of other authors have said about the events of the week before the assassination, but without any footnotes or references).Trebek has "refused donation requests from Republicans and Democrats" and "wishes a pox on both their houses." Amen, Brother Alex!He considered "military entanglements in foreign lands" to be the "American follies of the 21st century" and condemns our "reckless credit system" that is the result of "the cancer of political corruption.
