Rand Paul Has Turned 'End the Fed' Into 'End the Moneybombs'

The Campaign for Liberty is running a money bomb today. An EPJ reader emails:
FYI - AUDIT THE FED [money bomb] has gathered only $70,000.00 so far.  To me, this is VERY
disappointing.  It tells me, that only 7000 people (!) were able to pitch in $10.00?
WTF!?  Please pardon my "French".  Seriously.  WHAT THE heck, is going on, in
America, when 80% of the public supposedly supports a full Audit of the 'Fed',
yet, Campaign for Liberty has only received $70,000.00 in donations ?!!!  This
is the single most important issue facing us, as Americans today.  Nearly every
other problem can be traced back to this one.
What has happened is Rand Paul, with his absurd claim during his endorsement of Mitt Romney that Romney  holds an opinion similar to that of Ron Paul on End the Fed, is making a lot of people very suspicious of the direction of the Campaign for Dollars Liberty.

The fact that Rand Paul wants to change the focus of the Campaign for Dollars Liberty to internet freedom rather than End the Fed is mighty suspicious, to many.

Bottom Line: Rand Paul is quickly turning the Campaign for Liberty contribution list into something as valuable as the list of people who own Jesse Benton is my hero buttons..

Next stop for Rand: A Cato fest speech. Maybe the Campaign for Liberty should run a money bomb calling for the TSA to follow the rules, when groping.

    1. this ^

I have received maybe 10 pieces of mail from them in the past two months? The shredder in my house is getting a good workout.

    2. If you registered Republican to vote for Paul they might have got it that way.

    3. I'm pretty sure that isn't the case. Someone else I know who isn't subscribed to C4L's e-mails nor contributed money to them is not receiving any mail.

    4. I don't even live in the country, am NOT registered, and I started getting them right after the Rand endorsement.

    5. That timing sounds about right.

  2. I did donate money to End The Fed (though not as much as I probably would have had the campaign not shot itself in the foot) but I keep reading/hearing that even if it passes the house that it will get shot down in the Senate (maybe I have those reversed - not sure). Also, the C4L gives mixed messages. Rand Paul endorsed Romney. Ron Paul even said Romney was going to get the nomination. Meanwhile, the day after Ron said he was no longer actively campaigning, I got a call from C4L asking for a donation. Now we hear suspicious stories about Trygve Olsen. Heck, Tom Woods criticized the campaign leaders (that did NOT include Ron Paul), including even campaign manager Jesse Benton.

I have no idea now how much or even if I trust C4L anymore. And Mr Wenzel is absolutely correct that it affects my donations.

  3. I used to donate a lot (for my income) to C4L. A C4L representative even paid me a visit during lunch on a workday asking for a $5,000!!! donation. I paid for his lunch and haven't donated a penny since. Like Bob said above, I'm just a bit wary of the organization these days. I now prefer to donate to causes closer to home that I can track more easily.

  4. I can't speak for all, but some of us are using what little we have to feed our families, Robert. Yes, it's gotten that bad.

  5. Rand managed to help C4L snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

I was already dubious over it pumping Rand for his senate race, when Neocon Lite decided to endorse Romney it put the final nail in the C4L coffin for me. Looks like I'm not the only one.

  6. End the Fed < Audit the Fed

The organization has been co-opted. The message has been diluted. Did they think nobody would notice?

  7. C4L also sold my info to Mitt Romney and I am now on his mailing list. C4L doesn't want to discuss foreign policy anymore. Screw them.

    2. No, I am not a registered Republican. My state does not require anyone to register a party.

  8. I still generally support C4L and had donated money to them in the past. However, it seems as if there's a money bomb every week, for whatever reason, and it's just getting tiresome.

RP has stopped his campaign. Rand has become damaged goods. No one seems to be sticking up for the RP delegates in states where their voting rights were violated by criminal establishment GOP members. I was a delegate in Louisiana and witnessed cheating, bullying, and outright assaults by the LAGOP and their hired LA State Police security. Why isn't the protest louder? Why isn't the protest about the loyalty affidavits, which are against federal law, and the disqualification of delegates in Massachusetts louder? Why isn't C4L shining a light on Nebraska to try to win RP a plurality in a fifth state?

It seems like C4L doesn't want to fight for its supporters, only their donations. If C4L doesn't start listening to its supporters and for founding issues like Audit the Fed, then it will become insignificant, co-opted, or just fade away.

  9. Money bombs stop becoming money bombs when you have them every other week. They start just becoming, asking for money again... for no apparent reason.

Couple that with the Paul Campaign's flubbing of the 'non-concession' and Rand's offending of the hardcore followers... could have seen this coming from a mile away.

  10. Unfortunately, I don't even open the Ron Paul emails anymore. Insta-delete. And I am a huge supporter of his. But, as previous posters have noted, all of the sudden the message was diluted. And Rand Paul is an ambitious politician, pardon MY "French."

    1. You and me both. I also wonder how much input Dr. Paul has in the emails being sent out. It seems that much may being done in his name without his knowledge.

  11. Add me to the list of those who had previously given generously to both C4L and YAL, but have quit donating to both over the past couple months on account of the strange end to the RP campaign, and Rand Paul coming out as a neocon. Still giving to Mises.org, but if they keep pushing the religious line, they will soon be on the chopping block as well.

    1. what religious line?

    2. What are you talking about? I don't remember ever reading anything pushing a religion on mises.org.

      Delete
    3. It is pretty clear that many of the top contributors to mises.org are christianity promoters ie Tom Woods, Lew Rockwell, Jeff Tucker, etc...

      Delete
    4. Jeff Tucker doesn't work for Mises. Walter Block is of Jewish descent and an atheist. David Gordon is of Jewish descent and I have no idea what his view is on religion. Mises, the man whom the Institute is named after was an atheist, Jew, as was Murray Rothbard, who is promoted more than anyone else at mises.org.

You have no idea what you are talking about.

  12. With Ron retiring soon, there will no longer be the "except for..." qualification when referring to Congress as scum. So no reason to donate to any political campaign.

  13. Spare the rod and spoil the child. Too bad Ron didn't use the rod more on Rand. Maybe this money bomb spanking will suffice.

  15. C4L is how all the liberty people in my area have come together. They're all solid Ron Paul people. I just give cash to the local group, no national donations.

  16. My opinion that the Paul's knew that they did not stand a chance of getting the nomination. So they made a deal. Ron would get his chairmanship and Rand would fold into the mainstream party.

There is now way change would happen from within the party. That's like walking into a bar and attempting to organize a ban on drinking.

Our best chance is to check out of the system. Never donate money to the party.

  17. OK, let's dump Rand and put Marco Rubio and the rest of the village idiots in charge.

    1. Yeah, because if we dislike Rand Paul we must surely choose Marco Rubio instead.
Ugh... Try a little harder with the argument if you insist on kissing Rand Paul's rear.

    2. Ron Paul endorsed Ronald Reagan. Ron Paul puts earmarks into bills. Ron Paul is a sell out. Rand is pure and has a consistent strategy.

      Delete
    3. Yes, and Ron Paul did not quickly retract the endorsement of a man who had advertised himself as "small government" and "pro-liberty". After all, he switched to the Libertarian Party because he was such a fan of Ronald Reagan's administration. But hey, ignore the facts and let us worry about them.

Yes, and Ron Paul did not simply want to give people in the state of Texas their OWN money back. Better to have Texans pay taxes and allow Washington to allocate it to causes that don't serve Texans a damn.

You must get quite a workout with those mental gymnastics about Rand Paul, though. He's as pure as yellow snow.
And you must get personal phone calls from him explaining to you all the fine details of this wonderful strategy you seem to know about, instead of just making it up on the fly because of your cognitive dissonance.

You also, by the way, use a strawman, as i not only not even claimed Ron Paul is "perfect" or "pure"; i did not even mention his name AT ALL.

      But nice try nevertheless.

  18. RON Paul sold out a long time ago, he endorsed Ronald Ray-gun, then voted for Newt Gingrichcare, Dennis Hastert and John Boner.

  19. Ron Paul just said on Cavuto-7/13/12-that his Audit The Fed Bill Will Probably Pass. Why the heck do they need our money? Sounds like people in the campaign are trying to bleed us for everything we have. Pure greed and nothing else!

    ReplyDelete
  20. If it will pass, it will do so on its own merits. I'd rather donate to the Mises Institute to educate young people. Most everyone over 45 seems to be a waste of time. Even if they recognize government is the problem, they wonder how government will "help us." Slave mentality is still the rule.

    ReplyDelete
  21. What is most disappointing is that a number of the libertarian stalwarts back Paul unquestionably. I understand why. They have a long history with him. Paul has done a lot of good. But there is something not right with the way this is ending.

If they came clean with their strategy, then maybe we could have made a decision as to participate or not. I can't believe for a second that the leadership of this movement believed Paul would win. I would visit their sites and they would speak as if Paul actually had a change. Money bombs were being sent on a regular basis. There was never a chance for Paul to win.

So what was their strategy all along? Why did they raise all this money? Why did Rand come off as Ron's successor, only to turn tail? Why do the stalwarts back up Ron and not say a negative thing about Rand? And when they did, retracted their statements?

By the way, EPJ is the one source that has not buckled. Perhaps that is why the readership continues to grow...
