HOT: Giuliani Calls Ron Paul ‘a kook’ and a ‘cranky old man’

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani has some very unflattering things to say about Ron Paul, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

SF reports that in an interview with Beast TV, Giuliani described Dt. Paul as “a kook” and a “cranky old man,” according to a report by Daily Beast DC bureau chief Howard Kurtz.

Kurtz said Giuliani is “not happy with Ron Paul” and he is “not happy with his supporters for making a fuss here at the convention.

Developing....

UPDATE 1

Village Voice reports:

"I don't get it," [Giuliani]said about the young contingent of voters who still support Ron Paul, Giuliani's old political foe. "I just think they tune out, or they don't understand, or they weren't educated properly.

"I think he's a kook," he admitted. "I think he's a kook, I do."

UPDATE 2:

More from Village Voice:
"His views on 9/11, to me, are horrifying," Giuliani said. "I don't understand how people support him. Some of the things he says are, to me, the product of a cranky old man." He went even further, calling Paul taking part in the Republican debates "a total distraction."

  1. Sounds like Giuliani is still a little cranky about having is ass kicked by Ron Paul on foreign policy/911 in the 2008 debates. Boo fucking hoo. Giuliani is a creep, and changed what he said about 911 like a dozen times.

    1. Rudy is for sure still Butt Hurt about 2008. I gorged myself on "Rudy's Readin List" for MONTHS after that debate, and it really exposed Rudy as... Well... Ignorant and cranky.

      Pot, meet kettle.

  2. Huh,

And here I really LIKED Giuliani!! ;)

  3. "educated properly"

I think what he meant to say is "indoctrinated properly".

Giuliani always was my least favorite part of my years in NYC.

  4. Don't know how you can call Ron Paul a cranky old man when he always seems like the nicest guy on interviews and always seems upbeat. People that are around him when the cameras are off say he is the same way when not on air. Giuliani, on the other hand, is exactly the type of person I would refer to as a cranky old man (do I even need to explain why? See the above quotes.)

Really, a "kook"? Is Giuliani's definition of a kook: "someone who's predictions have all come to pass"?

And what views on 9/11 does he dispute? The ones that are held by the CIA in official documents? Is Michael Scheuer, the former CIA chief that came out and said that Ron Paul is the only one telling the truth about foreign affairs a kook as well? Where does Giuliani get his info? CNN?

    1. Great comment.

    2. I have learned to use the term "kook" in the good sense, as referring to the people who have been correct over and over and over again. An example would be to introduce a news story with 'the kooks were right again'.

Kooks are also people who read official US government documents and what influential NGOs and so forth produce. Non kooks believe what the talking heads on the TV say instead of reading real information.

So Ron Paul is a "Kook". He's often right and he reads source material.

    3. Rudy is referring to the "9/11 wouldn't have happend if we had a Ron Paul foreign policy" theme of the last few days. I, personally, don't think Ron Paul's non-interventionist foreign policy alone would have prevented those attacks, but they would have facilitated the activity that would lead to peace.

Bombs and sanctions will not convince fanatics of our goodness, true. But a fanatic is not logical in his beliefs or actions. They "hate" us because they are taught by their religious leaders to hate, and they are poor enough to have nothing to lose in so believing.

Given the choice, I'll take Ron Paul's foreign policy over Rudy and the GOP's every day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

  5. And now Rand has joined the scrum of these people huh

    1. Rand is just a small step for mankind, where Ron Paul is a giant leap.

The GOP was lost over generations, slowly. It's not going to be snatched back from the brink in just a few short years. This will take time.

  6. I still have to thank Giuliani (along with Bill Maher) for getting me into the Ron Paul fold. It was Paul's two appearances on Maher's show along with Paul's exchange with Giuliani at the debates that got me interested in the first place. It all snowballed from there.

Life would be so sweet if Giuliani understood his ironic contribution to so many people following that "kook" Paul.

  7. I always compare Ron Paul and the GOP to being a nerd in high school. The nerd is the smartest guy around, but the jocks call him stupid, crazy, or kooky.

Time passes, and the nerd rules! The idiot "jocks", like Giuliani, are losers stuck in the past remembering the time they caught a touchdown pass.

    1. Awesome!

I was the nerdy geek in school. I was also fairly athletic, so I was constantly exposed to the jocks.

Now, I'm an engineer, while most of those jocks are welders and laborers. Well-paying jobs, to be sure, but they are definatly not in the AC, if you know what I mean.

  8. No weapons of mass destruction. 1 million Iraqis dead. +3 trillion in taxpayer dollars wasted. And Ron Paul is the the "kook"?

Guiliani's entire claim to fame is after the 9/11 attacks he had a few nice things to say on TV. He is one of the most overhyped politicians ever. Glad he is fading into the ether.

  9. And I can refer to Rudy as a "Nazi," a "crook," and a "prick," and those descriptions are thousands of times more accurate than his descriptions of Ron Paul.

    ReplyDelete
  10. All I can say is that following the mainstream kooks is what got us here. I consider the former mayor part of that group.

  11. He's a nut job and so is his useless party. Enjoy counting Gary Johnsons vote AHOLE

  12. "I just think they tune out, or they don't understand, or they weren't educated properly."

His last guess is correct, but the word he used was wrong.

Replace "educated properly" with "indoctrinated by the government run education system properly".

  14. No, Rudy: we support Dr. Paul because we have tuned IN, and we're not buying the same old Ruling Party bullshit that Romney and Obama are selling.

    ReplyDelete
  15. The real irony is that Rudy had/has zero foreign affairs experience or knowledge when he gave his infamous chest beating debate performance. Ron had served on House foreign affairs committee & actually visited Afghanisyan whe in the military. Rudy could have gained some knowledge when he was asked to serve on the 9/11 Commission bit he had turned that down to earn millions in a speaking tour. Real patriot.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Exactly Rudy, you don't get it.

    ReplyDelete
  17. This is what we have come to expect from a card-carrying member of the Neocon cabal which has taken over the GOP. Giuliani would be most comfortable in Fascist Italy in 1942. This cretin wouldn't know a decent man if he tripped over one. He bathes in a swill of Neocons, Statists, and Power-Mad tyrants...,and he enjoys every second of it.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I remember when Giuliani came to town, Arlington, Texas during during the 2008 GOP nominee campaign. Maybe a dozen or so followers of Giuliani showed up but they were surrounded by nearly 100 loyal Ron Paul fans with signs. Giuliani is the "kook" of an ex-mayor, nobody cares what he has to say.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Giuliani is one of those room-temperature IQ types who wasn't paying attention at all during the entire 1990s when upwards of 500,000 Iraqi people were starved to death from sanctions or bombed by the U.S., then acted all surprised when 9/11 happened as if it were unprovoked or something. As Ward Churchill so correctly observed - and was exorciated for daring to say it by the very same slimy Giuliani disciples - some people push back.

Ron Paul, correct as usual: "They don't hate us because of our freedoms, they hate us because we are over there. We've been bombing them for 15 years." Actually, he's mostly right but a certain U.S. client state has been bombing them for far longer than that.

Giuliani should GTFO of politics for good and crawl back under his rock, and take Newt Gingrich, the O'Bomber in Chief, and the rest of the war party with him.

  20. Yet of the two of them, only Paul was warning about 9/11 while the Mayor apparently had his head up his ass. What a fool.

  21. Giuliani was always Rothbard's least favorite politician.

  22. To Rudy, I muse, right straight in front of his presence...

"I don't think Mohammed Atta, was smart enough, of his own volition, to understand how critical it was for him to place/crash his 767 between the 93rd and 98th floors, so that the result would be 661 deaths, (out of a total of 1275 deaths from WTC1 [1]) from floors 101-105, of the north tower of the World Trade Center. Floors 101-105 just happen to be all Cantor Fitzgerald (CF).

CF was charged with securing records of securities of some $240 billion in "off balance sheet" entries. Entries that would be later cleared "on balance sheet," by the BoNY. Do you think Rudy? Crazy you say? Then let's find out together. Let Congress commission an independent study, and let's find out the FULL truth -- together. My understanding of history, that both in crime and warfare, is to 'follow the money.' Wouldn't you agree, Rudy? Rudy, Rudy? Where did Rudy go?"

Research "Golden Lily, Black Eagle Trust / Project Hammer." [2] How 9/11 happened is far less significant as to WHY it happened...

  28. Does Rudy also say that about Paul Wolfowitz?

"Question: Was that one of the arguments that was raised early on by you and others that ... the relationship between Saudi Arabia, our troops being there, and Bin Laden's rage about that, which he's built on so many years, also CONNECTS the World Trade Center attacks, that there's a logic of MOTIVE or something like that? Or does that read too much into."

Wolfowitz: "No, I think it happens to be CORRECT. The truth is that for reasons that have a lot to do with the U.S. government bureaucracy we settled on the one issue that everyone could agree on which was weapons of mass destruction as the core reason."

    Paul Wolfowitz, 2003

    http://www.defense.gov/transcripts/transcript.aspx?transcriptid=2594

So Mr Neo-con Wolfowitz himself admitted that blowback takes place, and that WMD was used as an excuse to invade Iraq? Gee, that sounds familiar, doesn't it?

PS Does anyone else remember when Rudy tried to stay on after his elected term for just a little longer? He begged and begged to be given just a few more months in office after his term was up in the interest of 911 victims! He is a perfect example of government in action. He is also a perfect example of what the GOP party is today: pro abortion, anti-gun, pro war, anti-civil liberties, keynesian, pro fed, anti-spending cuts or agency abolishments yet calls himself a conservative republican!

  29. We were all behind Ron Paul when he doubled down on his statement and beliefs against Giuliani in the '08 debates - Giuliani is likewise doubling down on his statement and beliefs, albeit in a FAR LESS classy and respectable way that Dr. Paul did (Dr. Paul never called anyone any names, if I remember correctly).

I wonder who will have the biggest impact on politics for years to come.... Yeah, I doubt Giuliani will be inspiring any intellectual or political movements anytime soon.

  30. Has Giuliani moved back into his own house yet? I was just curious as when he was mayor, he lived in an apartment owned by some other fellow because his wife kicked him out of Gracie Mansion, the normal house of the Mayor of NYC.

  32. It never ceases to amaze me how New Yorkers elect Nanny State Fascists to be their mayor time after time after time.

Sorry, Rudy, I guess I wasn't educated properly enough to appreciate how wise you are, and how I should let you tell me what I'm allowed to think. Guess I'll just muddle along thinking about Liberty and the proper limitations upon Leviathan.
