This is nothing but a total interventionist move, preventing free exchange between individuals and private organizations.
First they came for 32 ounce drink containers...
Central planning interventionists live to meddle. They will never stop, unless ignored en mass or told to stop.
Update:
The new regulation -- which goes into effect in March -- puts a 16-ounce limit on non-diet soda and sweetened teas “in fast-food joints, movie houses and Broadway theaters, workplace cafeterias, and most other places selling prepared food,” according to Bloomberg.
Most ominous:
The health board’s one abstained vote came from Dr. Sixto Caro, who said Bloomberg’s plan doesn’t do enough to fight obesity.
“This is not comprehensive,” he said. “It’s not enough. It’s only one aspect.”
Looks like NYC is doing its best to earn "People's Republic" title. The People's Republic of New York City. Has a nice ring to it. LOL I heard you can't buy two 16oz soda's either. Now one has to ask, how much is this going to cost to implement. More useless government jobs?
ReplyDeleteBloomberg is such a f-ing Nazi. If he can dictate even the size of the soda you drink, then really what freedom do we have left anymore?
ReplyDeleteI notice that "diet" sodas and teas are exempted from the ban, even though these contain dangerous artificial sweeteners. One thing most fat and unhealthy people have in common is that they drink diet soda.
ReplyDeleteAside from the obvious ethical problem of violating the freedom of choice and contract, Food Nazism presumes to have perfect knowledge with regards to health and nutrition. In reality, there are many competing views as to what constitutes proper diet, and the answer likely varies from one person to another.
They are not even trying to make people healthier, as if this ban was moral or effective. I'm pretty sure they are trying to kill as many of us as they can, slowly...while draining our wealth.
ReplyDeleteI believe this 100%
