When the government tries to limit choice, choice fights back.
Kyle Olson reports:
In Wisconsin, high school athletes are complaining about not getting enough to eat each day, due to the skimpy new school lunch menu mandated by the United States Department of Agriculture and First Lady Michelle Obama.
The story we published earlier this week on that subject is unfortunately not unique. Students across the country are complaining about the new school lunch regulations...
Despite the fact that the new regulations have increased the cost of a lunch 20 to 25 cents per plate, it’s not pleasing students.
Some are throwing away their vegetables while others are adapting to the rules by becoming industrious. In New Bedford, Massachusetts, students have created a black market - for chocolate syrup. The kiddie capitalists are smuggling in bottles of it and selling it by the squeeze [because under the Michelle plan only white milk is available], according toSouthCoastToday.com.Given reports that some student are going hungry during the school day because of the Michelle food menu that they don't eat from, can contraband pizza slices be far behind?
I knew the schools would find a way to teach entrepreneurship...
ReplyDeleteAny bets on how long before some kid is arrested for selling illegal food to their classmates?

Where I work at a petrochemical refinery, the company does not allow vending machines on the property, and there are no resturants within 5 miles or so.
ReplyDeleteEnter the Food Trucks. Mobile kitchens that grill up made-to-order meals of such a wide variety that I still cannot believe it.
It's coming to a school near you!
Ha! The ice cream man just got a new gig.
