SplashData has just released its annual list of the worst passwords, which features the most common phrases used on the Internet and posted by hackers.

  4. Does this call for a government program to audit all passwords as a part of national security? Just give all your passwords to the government and everything will be ok. :-)

  5. hard to believe there aren't any political candidates with a descriptive modifier attached.
    ie, senilemccain or uglypelosi.

  6. I propose that every password management system just load these top 25 as invalid. Add to the list each year. sure the list gets longer each year, but the passwords will get harder to guess each year too.

  9. In 1997, I worked for a Hospital in S. Florida. I read a similar list with the top four passwords (at the time). They were something like God, Love, Secret, Password. Just being a kid (I was 19), I tried to log into the manager's screen with one of the above. Bingo! I logged out immediately. Three days later I was called into HR and fired.
    Lesson. Don't test the passwords at work unless you want a pink slip!
