This is the 86th street stop in Bay Ridge on the R train, not the upper east or west side of Manhattan. Flooding was expected here. Let's get all the facts before we criticize the state.
Oh yeah, the government is absolved. The pic is of flooding in an outer borough, where no elitists live.
But what about the other six tunnels that have been flooded, and the auto tunnels that have been flooded. Everything is just fine under Mayor Blowfield.
Fine, be the douchebag Randian who pins all responsibility on the failure of an infrastructure (that was run privately when it was built, by the way) and the failure of government to stop an historic 12 foot tidal surge in the Hudson Bay. You'll get a lot of sympathy for your cause by people you're trying to convert.
I'm a top-of-the-chart libertarian. New York did a great job with this storm. It's not capitalism vs. statism, it's a force much stronger. Gravity. Where we can all come together.
This does not look like the 86th street station in Bay Ridge. That particular station has the platform in the center and the uptown and downtown tracks on each side.
Government solution to flooded subways - use real subs! Think of the jobs, the boost to the nuclear and defense industries, the jump in the polls... [que sound of bureaucrats have multiple orgasms]
I'm just shocked that the lights work!!!
ReplyDeleteLet's just start a water taxi service through the tunnels. Doubles as a tunnel of love ride.

What criticism of the state? Are you reading something I'm not, or are you just pretentious?
DeleteThis is not 86th Street in Bay Ridge, but rather 86th Street on the N train, toward Coney Island...Gravesend, is the neighborhood I believe.
DeleteAt least the subway's will be cleaner once drained.
ReplyDeleteLOLLLL agreed!
