500th Homicide in Rhamaland

A man gunned down Thursday on Chicago's west side marked what police say is the city's 500th homicide of the year, reports NBC News. It's a dubious distinction that hasn't occurred since 2008, when the city ended the year with 512 murders. Chicago has one of the toughest gun laws in the bation.

Police are releasing few details about the shooting that happened around 9 p.m. in the 4900 block of West Augusta. The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he died.

  2. So more people have died this year in Chicago alone than in the entire 300 million plus country of the US last year via a rifle. Obviously, the answer is to ban rifles. The welfare state destroying the family, the drug war creating incentives for gangs to fight over drug turf, and the knowledge that honest citizens have no method to protect themselves is a perfect storm of central planning disaster in Chicago.

  3. But guns and murder are illegal, so this is impossible...

  4. I wonder how many murders will take on the 31st before midnight. Probably enough to surpass the 512 murders in 2008 if that number already hasn't been surpassed since the writing of this article.
