On his program last night, Beck revealed that his intention to "go Galt" is quite literal, unveiling grandiose plans to create an entirely self-sustaining community called Independence Park that will provide its own food and energy, produce television and film content, host research and development, serve as a marketplace for products and ideas, while also housing a theme park and serving as a residential community.
At the center -- in the middle of the lake that is itself larger than all of Disney Land - Beck (with the help of David Barton) will create a massive "national archive"/learning center where people can send their children to be "deprogrammed" and elected officials can come to learn "the truth."
The Dallas Observer reports that the planned community will be in Texas:Things are pretty bad in the US, but I am not sure that I am ready for a city run by Glenn Beck, though the idea of private cities is a great one. Let's hope Beck's move will launch others to think about and create private cities.
Beck doesn't specify where in Texas this community will be, whether it will be based near his Westlake home, or his Las Colinas studio, or on some of that farmland he bought.
Here's Beck describing his Galt's Gulch:
Note: The best plan, at present, that has been brought to my attention is one that is in the early stages of development in a South American country, by an individual who is much better versed in liberty than Beck.
Doug Casey and Jeff Berwick are already working on "Galt's Gulches" in places like Agentina, Mexico and Chile. I would trust them far more than Glen Beck.

Indeed. I've heard Beck's conception of "the truth" a time or two over the years. Pass.
DeleteCasey's experiment is very interesting to me...the ACA condos thing is interesting too, but obviously less focused on the absence of gov't.
DeleteI agree that the notion of trying to start a community without the absence of an outside gov't/entity regulating it pure folly and nothing more than a scam.
Beck....the libertarian (pseudo that is) Jerry Jones!? Ah........NO THANKS,!!!
DeleteOoops! Jim Jones!

DeleteI've heard plenty of GlennBeck's Shows before he left FOX because FOX was pressured so much and Glenn Beck willing left FOX to get the monkeys off on FOX's back. FOX is still believed to be telling nothing but lies. All of what I saw every piece spoken had proven facts listed shown but people still could not believe. Glenn Spoke able the Peoples brotherhood for something. The point is he stated it would occur and why with the reasons. So I ask you ALL where can you commit ill things or distrust about an individual who has been very accurate in providing detailed information of events which were being planned with proof but he was blasted for talking about the movement of the Brotherhood group and what their actions would do. We have now witnessed what he spoke about and we have seen the destruction of cities left in ruins.
Glenn Spoke the true plus presented evidence to back it up on everyone of his shows I saw on FOX. So Glenn's history on FOX TV has proven to be truthful and honest. Sadly it is also extremely accurate and now people are suffering.
The movement caused the damage and made the reason the people are suffering. Glenn Beck was just showing and proving what was going on behind the scenes which most people just can't get enough intel to do the same.
I know we live during a time when "Change" is and has been a major event.
Glenn is good at what he does! He provides the proof and evidence. Many other shows just talk that talk but never show proof or facts which are accurate like Glenn's. It is sad that history books never said anything about the church Glenn belongs to nor do they speak of how efficient the two cities were which they settled in. Those cities were self sustaining. They worked very well and prospered too. They did so well that a Governor issued the very first write order to exterminate all members of his church. What reason could anyone have, certainly not greed nor perfectly prosperous cities. Freedom of religion?
The actions taken by the governor were horribly illegal. Gangs of men went through the streets killing men women and children. They ravished many women to dead. So can a city be built and be self-sustaining I know it can but never will with evil or greedy people running it. Pride destroys many good cities. All things I have stated are true but you will not see them in many history books. Why don't history books speak about one of the US's most hideous and cruel actions ever allowed to happen. The government turned a blind eye on all of it. Military troops were even used not to help but to destroy. They fired their cannons upon the city filled with US citizens. Another first for the history books but never made it into any. It can be done but only in righteous manner. Sorry I did not proof read, but my point is made.
Let's not forget Glenn Beck is a CIA-asset and this is obviously an attempt to co-opt and discredit the idea of private/free cities, just like the hijacking of the Honduras initiative.
ReplyDeleteGreat. A neighborhood where all of your neighbors are Glenn Beck listeners. That is what I call an intellectual and physical ghetto.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like one of Beck's latest scams (Goldline, Food Insurance, etc.). Doubtless he gets a commission from who ever is the real estate developer. If he was serious about this, he would be encoraging people to support the Free State Project.
Apparently, you will no longer need to pay taxes and will be outside of the jurisdiction of the U.S. federal government in this Texas community.
ReplyDeleteRight?
Otherwise, this idea is kind of stupid.
Glenn Beck called Romney the modern day George Washington. Enough said.
ReplyDeleteWell, to be fair, after Washington became president he murdered a bunch of people for competing with him in the whiskey trade. I could see Romney being a cold-hearted murderer as well. In fact, I don't think one can become president without such a brutish, psychopathic bent.

ReplyDeleteGlenn Beck is a "schizo" retard. The guy probably does a 180 on every show he broadcasts. I think I've listened to him twice.
ReplyDeleteLuke Rudkowski's attempts to confront him are priceless. Beck's too much of a pussy to come out from behind his security staff.
You know all about him and you listened to him twice, you must be quite astute.
DeleteGuy says he's for freedom. Doesn't allow Liz Claiborn. Why, what principle does that violate?
ReplyDelete"Tha' boss don't like it!"
Collectivized farms? They have to sell to the local community? Ever heard of division of labor buddy? It's the heart of economics.
"We buy local food only! No strawberries for you." (sad faced peasants)
Monopoly ownership of energy production? We'll produce more than we use? So do we have to pay for more capital investments? Who profits from the sold surplus.
"Get to the marketplace and talk!"
God bless Glenn Beck and his utopia. Freedom means planned communities FOR SURE. America has a storied history of planned utopian failures. Not saying it'll fail. But I won't be there.
beck should be at Ron Paul's knee's
ReplyDeleteI know that politics can make for strange bedfellows but Glenn Beck and Dave Barton gotta take the cake.
ReplyDeleteI've never watched more than two minutes of this guy. This was very difficult to watch. He is truly a very strange person. It's obvious to me that he doesn't believe what he is saying, he's just reading a script.
ReplyDeleteThis and other efforts are doomed. We need to conquer, not retreat and cloister. Our ideas are superior and we can simply outlast the unproductive. We just need to have whole States like NH, TX, Montana etc to secede. There is no point in building another Mt. Carmel that the feds will just gas and burn after demonizing.
ReplyDeleteWho says you need the "whole" state?
DeleteHave you traveled to Montana? According to the highway signs 90% of their roadwork is paid for by the federal government.
DeleteThey enjoy low or nonexistent tax rates while mooching off the rest of America. I wouldn't call that "conservative" or "self-sufficient" in my book.
The only state with the means to secede would be Texas, though they would need to take Oklahoma too because defending that jigsaw border would just be a pain.
Glenn Beck is no Walt Disney but he could be a close relative of Dumbo.
ReplyDeleteI would rather rejoice in another man's successes than take schadenfreude delight in his failures.
ReplyDeleteThe man doesn't trust the progressives, and abhors dictators, even if his understanding of freedom - like most of ours - is imperfect.
Demanding perfection is hypocritical.
If you choose to see every man's failure as the act of a fiend rather than of a fool, you will quickly be overwhelmed by the enormity of the belief that you live in a world completely full of fiends.
Moreover, with such a viewpoint you will be unprepared to confront your own imperfections, and sorely tempted to consciously join in the fiendishness.
The problem with the dictators is that they are willing, and eager, to bring death to humanity in return for their own personal moment in the sun.
They've taken the Miltonian bargain. And so, Paradise for them is lost. They reject it.
They are fiends in their foolishness... What a tragedy and waste!
Most successful liberty project so far is http://www.freestateproject.org
ReplyDeleteFree State Project is enthusiastically endorsed by Ron Paul and Tom Woods.
Beck is a modern day snake oil salesman. If there is a Chinese knock-off of [small L] libertarianism, it is Beck.
ReplyDelete"free cities" and "gulches" is the only worth while "freedom movement".
ReplyDeleteNo Doubt. If you'd like to be a part of a real libertarian movement with a proven track record, check out the Free State Project.

Beck....the libertarian (pseudo, that is) Jim Jones!?
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh........NO THANKS,!!!
Ah, Glenn Beck's utopia. Shall we call it Glenbeckistan? I wonder if they'll have a kool-aid factory?
ReplyDeleteHe's a wonderful central planner. LOL.
ReplyDeleteMr. Beck, You're no John Galt.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the Jim Jones Punch.
ReplyDeleteListening to all of your hate, I have to ask, is what we have any good, is this system and administration anything but a failure. I admire Beck, don't agree often but at least he is not one of the leftist sheep running our nation. We live in a culture that rewards failure and punishes success. The man is a pony tail wearing lazy pot smoking hippy and we have become mediocre at best. At least Beck has a thought of his own. Wow you are all sheep.
