Prices at U.S. gasoline pumps have climbed for 32 consecutive days to a four-month high, reports WSJ.
The national retail gasoline price has risen 43 cents, or 13%, to $3.73 a gallon since Jan. 17, according to the Automobile Association of America.
Part of the climb, according to AAA spokeswoman Heather Hunter, is the result of refinery shutdowns. Refineries normally schedule maintenance, which can run anywhere from a few days to several weeks, in January and February because those two months typically see low gasoline demand as inclement weather makes drivers more reluctant to take to the roads.
Then, there is this guy.
You sure like to use that. Piece of artwork. No attribution and I bet no permission from the artist either. I thought you were an IP guy.
ReplyDeleteI know gas around here (I am in Utah) is up at least 50 cents in the last month....from $2.79 to $3.29 at the station I buy from. Ridiculous...I guess this is the new normal.
ReplyDeleteGas was $3.90/gal. when I was in town on Monday (Michigan thumb area.) It hasn't been below $3/gal. in the Flint area for more than two years.
ReplyDeleteAdmittedly, we were cheering when gas dropped below $3 around here early last month. Regardless, I need to quit getting used to "cheap" gas at $2.xx per gallon. Might as well expect it to continue an upward trend....
ReplyDeleteJust bought some, notice how I didn't say "Fill up"... @4.12 a gallon. Luckily I'm okay because my vehicle gets 16+mpg... but it really cuts into it. I can imagine all the owner operators out there with trucks, and towing operators and basically anyone who ships goods and has to be on the road a lot, how hard it is on them.
ReplyDeleteReading Economics in one Lesson by Henry Hazlitt, and I swear.. I Just get more and more pissed off as I make said mental connections from the book. I see all this stupidity that politicians just continue to support and do, and the errors they make. And well, wish more people would take responsibility and educate themselves so we could vote some decent individuals in. (Since that's the system we have)
