Administrative Bloat in US Public Schools

Only to bureaucrats can the idea occur that establishing new offices, promulgating new decrees, and increasing the number of government employees alone can be described as positive and beneficial measures.-Ludwig von Mises

  1. While interesting and sad, I'd also like to see the year by year breakdown.

  2. I was discussing this years ago with a public school teacher who I respected. Honest.
Anyhow, she made the interesting point that today's schools aren't really schools as such. They're more like social services delivery mechanisms. She sighed at that point; she'd rather teach.
But her time was spent counceling pregnant 14 year olds and AIDS prevention etc. She had recently been classified as a "resource" rather than a "teacher"
Anyhow, I think she paints a more realistic picture than the old "schoolhouse" image we grew up with.
