With all eyes focused on the Rand Paul's filibuster, the House of Representatives on Wednesday approved a bill that would grant funding to the federal government through September of 2013.
The $982 billion continuing resolution introduced by Rep. Harold Rogers (R-KY), who heads the Appropriations Committee, would avoid a potential government shutdown on March 27.
In total, the bill includes $518 billion for defense, $2 billion more than President Obama requested this year but the same as in 2012. It assumes the 13 percent cut to non-exempt budget accounts called for by sequestration will occur.
So much for austerity.
