BREAKING Snowden: I want the people and the courts of Hong Kong to decide my fate.

Developing...

UPDATE 1

“My intention is to ask the courts and people of Hong Kong to decide my fate,” NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden told the South China Morning Post, in an exclusive interview, also saying. “I have been given no reason to doubt your system.’’

“People who think I made a mistake in picking HK as a location misunderstand my intentions,” Snowden said. “I am not here to hide from justice; I am here to reveal criminality.”

UPDATE 2

RW reaction: WOW, he is going to put the US spying/data collection apparatus on trial, in Hong Kong!

  1. God bless Edward Snowden! We need many thousands more of his character and courage. Tyranny in all its forms should be exposed.

  2. This is sheer genius! Many commentators have been berating his choice of venues, but as I see it, he could not have picked better. He is working a brilliant arbitrage within teh "one-country two systems" setup, whereby he can take advantage of the HK courts and judicial system, while at the same time enjoying the indirect protection of the PRC, maybe the only country the US cannot really put the screws on. And forget Washington hiring the triads, my guess is the MSS has already instructed the Tongs to offer prayers and incense for Mr. Snowdon's safety. He is worthless as an intel asset at this point, but pure gold politically.
