Police Investigating Apparent Suicide On The Yacht Of Red Sox Owner John Henry

Boston police are investigating the apparent suicide of a crew member aboard a yacht owned by Red Sox owner John Henry that was docked at Rowes Wharf, reports the Boston Globe.

Boston police spokeswoman Cheryl Fiandaca said firefighters and police responded to the Iroquois for a medical emergency about noon.

Fiandaca said rescuers found a 28-to-30-year-old male in cardiac arrest. Efforts were made to revive him, but he was later pronounced dead.

The Red Sox issued a statement saying a “crew member ... apparently took his life aboard the vessel” and noting that no one was aboard except for crew at the time.

“Mr. Henry and the members of the Boston Red Sox are saddened by the news and send deepest condolences to his family,” the team said.

According to BG, the 164-foot-long vessel is docked at 30 Rowes Wharf, behind the Boston Harbor Hotel. In 2011, Henry sought to sell the yacht for $28 million, Forbes magazine reported.
