White House to Putin: Extradite Snowden “without delay”

The Obama administration responded Tuesday to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s refusal to extradite Edward Snowden by again asking for the expulsion of the National Security Agency leaker “without delay,” reports Politico.

“We agree with President Putin that we do not want this issue to negatively impact our bilateral relations,” said National Security Council spokeswoman Caitlin Hayden. “While we do not have an extradition treaty with Russia, there is nonetheless a clear legal basis to expel Mr. Snowden, based on the status of his travel documents and the pending charges against him.”

  1. Its astonishing that DC still claims to be an injured party, legally.

  2. Oh common. Even assuming the worst about Snowden, that he was selling secrets for personal gain, when was the last time the US ever returned a defector to USSR/Russia or China?
