The USA is skewed downward by the unemployable and unemployed snap-card-underclass. If you count people who bother to complete high school, avoid children without marriage, etc. the figures would probably be like Australia. Its not the minimum wage workers who drive down the USA stats, its the never work workers.
Doesn't sound right to me, I came to the US and found just about everything cheaper than NZ so yeah its great if you like a big macs but if you want something more than that not so great. And back in the old country there is a good number of deadbeats and morons too.
A decent measure perhaps, but certainly not perfect. MacDonalds are not the same world-wide, and they occupy a different place in the market in different countries. This is true even between relatively well-developed countries; MacDonalds restaurants are noticeably more down-market in the US than they are in, say, the UK.

ReplyDeleteExcept some nations like Argentina that have huge inflation rates but lie about them abuse his measure.....

ReplyDeleteHow many Big Macs does McDonald's sell in India? I hear they are huge beef-eaters over there.
ReplyDeleteWhy isn't Norway on that list? Norway is topping the Big Mac Index, so thought it would be included. :(
