Paul, Lee, Cruz to Headline Obamacare Defunding Rally

WaPo reports:
In what tea party groups are calling a “battle to save America from the Obamacare ‘train wreck,’” Republican lawmakers plan to appear at a Capitol Hill rally on Sept. 10 to promote a proposal to defund the Affordable Care Act.

Republican senators Rand Paul (Ky.), Mike Lee (Utah) and Ted Cruz (Tex.) will headline the “Exempt America Tour” rally on the West Lawn as a culmination of a five-day tour of six states. The tour, which will kick off in Kentucky on Tuesday, is sponsored by seven tea party groups, including Tea Party Patriots and For America.
Let's hope they don't screw it up by calling for an alternative program. I will really be impressed if one of them says without any hedging: "We should leave healthcare and healthcare insurance to the free markets."

  2. When someone hopes a politician would speak plain truth instead of pandering, it always reminds me of the movie Braveheart when William Wallace is telling Robert the Bruce to stop playing politics and do what's right.

I feel myself yelling in my head, "And if you would just lead them, they'd follow you. And so would I!!"

Instead, of course, it will be politics as usual.

  3. A presidential candidate who promises to abolish Medicare is not making a sincere run at the White House. The candidate is running for other reasons. Proposing free market health insurance for seniors is like going to a job interview in your bathrobe and slippers.
