"There Is Room [in the Republican Party] For People Who Believe in Bigger Government"

The above was said by Rand Paul this morning on FOX News Sunday when host John Roberts asked Rand if he agreed with his father that Chris Christie "offers nothing."

For most of the show, Rand implied he was a conservative and only late in the show described himself as a "libertarian Republican."

  1. If he were still around I think Jack Hunter would say that Rand "Is just playing the game."

  2. Rand is so two-faced it's not even funny. In addition what does he mean when he said that there's room for big government people? Republicans are just as for statist big government as Democrats are. Paleocons, Theocons/Warvangelicals/Social Cons all love big government

  3. What an embarrassment. I think most of us know that Ron Paul's only major weakness is not being critical regarding the mistakes of family members (i.e. Benton, Rand), but this is ridiculous. Rand wants to be Emperor - perhaps a more benevolent one, but Emperor nonetheless. Very sad indeed to see the damage he's doing to the liberty movement.

    1. Just like Ronald Reagan. While Reagan claimed to be free market, his polices were anti-free market. For more resources, look up the Murray Rothbard archive at LRC (www.lewrockwell.com/author/murray-n-rothbard/) for some of his writings on Ronald Reagan.

    1. If you put on some soft, relaxing music, sit quietly and calm your mind, in the silence, another thought may come.

  5. I think this mainly shows that he's clumsy.

I don't think he means that he wants bigger govt per se, I think it was mostly another soft attack against Cristie. But a clumsily executed one.

My take is that some of this clumsiness comes from working too many sides at once instead of having a consistent world-view that you can use as a basis for everything else.

  6. He just called Chris Christie a big government guy in a back handed manner, and avoided a stupid question in the process. Brilliant!
