Ron Paul Inc is out with a new email announcing that Ron will campaign with Ken Cuccinell on Monday night in Richmond, VA.
This is just terrible news. As I have written, there are no real libertarians in this race. The race in Virginia should have no importance to libertarians.
The only thing this will do is drive more names and money into Ron Paul Inc.
Seriously, at what point is the distinction between Ron Paul Inc. and Ron Paul himself no longer valid?
ReplyDeleteRon Paul has chosen to campaign for Cuccinelli. At some point you have to judge the man on his own actions. It's not like Ron Paul Inc. is pointing a gun of any sort to Ron Paul's head.
Sad.
Maybe they are.
DeleteI wonder if the whole Iowa thing has anything to do with it. Did they ever produce those audio clips?
While Sarvis is nowhere near a perfect libertarian, he is pretty good on a lot of issues. Waaaaaay more libertarian than Cuccinelli. Read the entire interview in Reason (not just the one blurb about how he is not an Austrian). This should be a no brainer. The fact that Ron Paul has picked Cuccinelli is very bad news for the Ron Paul brand. What it essentially means is that he is making deals for Rand's 2016 run. Is he putting family above principles? The fact that he is personally campaigning means we can no longer pretend this is merely a Ron Paul Inc. operation.
ReplyDeleteI also take issue with the claim that this race is of no importance to libertarians. If Sarvis gets 10%, the Libertarian Party gets major party status until 2021. This means automatic ballot access. This would be good not to win elections (which should not be the goal for libertarians), but as a means of gaining a great platform to spread the ideas of liberty.
I wonder if it's more about the 10% then it is about the Virginian GOP governorship. They've been pretty vitriolic against libertarian type people lately. They want libertarians to go away.
Deletei take your point, unfortunately LP isn't as good for liberty either.
DeleteThis should score some points with the home schooling crowd and that's Ron Paul's new cash cow. You are cordially invited to a stoning!
ReplyDeleteJerry the troll
DeleteSure, Ron's whole career has obviously been a secret campaign for stoning. I mean, it's written all over his every piece of legislation, his every speech, his every act of individual kindness. Stoning yesterday, stoning today, stoning forever!
DeleteJerry (which isn't your real name), of all politicians to go berserk over, why the most pro-peace one ever? Dare I suggest you just might have some special interest at stake in war? That would explain the extreme one-sidedness and hatred.

DeleteEither Jerry is paid (probably with our money) to post here, or he is actually a libertarian who posts his inane comments to make statists look stupid.
I believe it is the former.
Already tried to point out Bob. Ron talks about this in his interview with Tom Woods. This isn't a RP inc. Scenario... It's all Ron.
ReplyDeleteEcho the above, Robert, and I'm not the same Anonymous. When do you stop drawing this phony distinction between Ron Paul and Ron Paul, Inc.?
ReplyDeleteWhat is it that you are so desperately trying to protect?
Tom Woods asks Ron Paul what made him endorse Cuccinelli at the 14:55 mark here: http://www.tomwoods.com/blog/is-ron-paul-an-anarchist-and-other-unusual-questions-for-dr-paul/
ReplyDeleteNot exactly a ringing endorsement, there seems to be a disconnect between his luke warm endorsement and the fact he is going to actively campaign with him.
DeleteI actually found his answer on whether he's an "ancap" more interesting.
"Not yet." ...lol...so there's hope for the good Dr. yet.
I find it interesting that the objection he brings up is the lack of faith in how a private police force would work and if problems of corruption within it would be resolved. Perhaps Dr. Block should give him a buzz.
It's a bit of cognitive dissonance to me, surprisingly from Dr. Paul. I think Lew Rockwell says it best when he talks about government monopoly in general(I found this most interesting in Rockwell's touch on IP as an issue) as basically never being the solution to anything.
Why am I reminded of Charo?
ReplyDeleteI don't stand with Wenzel. I stand with Ron and Rand, they know what they are doing. Go liberty go !
ReplyDeleteDo you ever have an original thought in your head?
DeleteI always keep saying never to treat people as prophets, and not to follow people but ideas.
ReplyDeleteI hope monarchists here see that politics will NEVER be the solution. The only thing we can campaign for is abolishing government PERIOD.
ReplyDeleteDid you mean minarchists?
DeleteYup. Thanks. I'm a shitty typist.
