As the Government Gains Power

Those working for the government power structure gain wealth.

WaPo reports Washigton DC has the most contiguous wealthy zip codes with 63.

A WaPO analysis of the latest census data shows that more than a third of Zip codes in the D.C. metro area rank in the top 5 percent nationally for income and education. But what makes the region truly unusual is that so many of the high-end Zip codes are contiguous. They form a vast land mass that bounds across 717 square miles. It stretches 60 miles from its northern tip in Woodstock, Md., to the southern end in Fairfax Station, and runs 30 miles wide from Haymarket in Prince William County to the heart of the District up to Rock Creek Parkway.

  1. Unfortunately I was born and raised in the DC area. I went to high school in Fairfax Country and a lot of my classmates lived in Fairfax Station. The kids who lived there (for the most part) were rich spoiled brats. I can think of 5 classmates off the top of my head who totalled multiple luxury (BMWs, Audis) cars paid for by Daddy. Most of the students parents (mine included) work for the federal or county government. I cant think of any who started or owned their own business.

The area in general is full of statists of one stripe or another. The solutions to "societies" problems are always typical Left/Right arguments... No one here (except me) argues for and promotes the ideas of liberty. They are all caught in the Left/Right paradigm and can never connect the dots to figure out that government creates all of these problems.

On a different note, I'll be here for a few more years and then to NH to join the Free State Project.

    1. I disagree. Not stupid, but misguided and unaware of alternatives.

When I was 20 I was prez of the college Democrats and championed socialst takeover. Thank GOD that Reason mag ended up in my POBox or I might have never found Mises.

    2. I was stupid for the first four decades of my life. Then I followed yahoo.com political editorials to Antiwar.com who linked to LRC. Probably 2 more years before I finally saw the light. Change is the only constant.

    3. The vast majority ARE stupid and will never listen. A minority of people will see once they're faced with reality. You guys did and so did I. The ones who are faced with it and still don't shange are stupid and that's most of them.

    4. "It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon his not understanding it."

Most people who live in that area depend on the stolen loot for their cushy lifestyle, so they are not going to advocate for the spigot to stop. These people are basically welfare queens.
