Election Watch 2013

Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.- H. L. Mencken
A few highlights to keep an eye on.

7 p.m. Polls close in Virginia.

All eyes race for governor that has  Republican Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli against Democratic fixer Terry McAuliffe and Libertarian Robert Sarvis. In recent days, McAuliffe has been polling with an edge, but I'm told by people on the ground that turnout is very light, which would be beneficial to Cuccinelli. Ron Paul Inc. is behind Cuccinelli so it is best he crashes and burns so the idea that Ron Paul Inc. can be a player in crony politics crashes also.

8 p.m. Polls close in New Jersey.

Judas Chistie will win. How big a vote will he get?

9 p.m. Polls close in New York.

How big a vote will Comrade DeBlasio get in the NYC mayor's race?

  1. Please take this in the spirit as if Walter Block launched into you. The elections are a 'human interest' story at best. As you and I understand it, who gives a SHIT who won the elections?

To be consistent, we can't both care and not care.

It is a human interest story, at best.

    Kind regards,

  2. Sarvis: I went to Mason mostly because they are nearby and have a strong free market bent to it. I’m not into the whole Austrian type, strongly libertarian economics, I like more mainstream economics and would have been happy to go elsewhere [as well].

    WTF did that mean?

    1. It means he is just another fraud walking around pretending to be libertarian, just because he has SOME small government inclinations.
The problem real libertarians have and must look out for, is that the terms "libertarianism" and "libertarian" are now being used in the relative sense. As in "libertarian COMPARED TO the mainstream statist variety of scumbags."

  3. I live on the border of SW Virginia, and they say the race was tight but McAssloofawhoever won.

    Who cares.

If a hardcore communist ran I would vote for him/her/it in order to accelerate the eventual demise of Mencken's "democracy".

The system is f*{<Ed. It cannot be fixed by voting for thug A over thug B.

  4. It's more than a human interest story. These people are getting real power that will affect a lot of people. I'm not sold on political inaction vs action.
