Socialist Sawant is in as Seattle City Council Member

Kshama Sawant

Seattle voters have elected a socialist to city council for the first time in modern history.

Kshama Sawant's lead continued to grow on Friday, prompting 16-year incumbent Richard Conlin to concede, reports AP.

Despite being an economics professor, the platform she ran on indicates a complete lack of understanding of fundamental supply and demand economics. It included a call  to raise the minimum wage to $15; rent controls and  a tax on millionaires.

She is also in favor of nationalizing Seattle-based Amazon.

"I will reach out to the people who supported Richard Conlin, working with everyone in Seattle to fight for a minimum wage of $15 (an) hour, affordable housing, and the needs of ordinary people," Sawant said in a statement.

  2. When economic professors make the laws only outlaws will engage in economic activity.

  3. People get the government they deserve. To paraphrase Mencken, the good folks of Seattle are about to get it good and hard.

  4. At least she admits to being socialist, that is, a complete moron.

Looks like there's no logic and reason in this "economist". How can anyone study economics and be so damned clueless about supply and demand? But then, I guess when your decisions are based on emotions instead than reason that's what happens.

    1. Unfortunately, parasitical, stealing paws reach across city and state borders.
Otherwise nobody would care if you want to turn your city into a resort for parasitical dumbasses..

    3. Yeah, us "assholes" who don't want to see more Seattelites or Americans period unemployed. Sigh....economic ignorance is going to destroy what's left of us if this keeps up.

  8. Isn't Bezos a big Democratic supporter? It would be delicious justice to have Amazon nationalized by the party he's been financially supporting.
