The US Has Bombed at Least Eight Wedding Parties Since 2001

The Nation writes:
U.S. drone campaigns are said to launch what in drone-speak are called "signature strikes"that is, strikes not against identified individuals, but against "a pre-identified 'signature' of behavior that the U.S. links to militant activity."  In other words, the U.S. launches drone strikes against groups or individuals whose behavior simply fits a “suspect” category: young men of military age carrying weapons, for instance (in areas where carrying a weapon may be the norm no matter who you are).  In a more general sense, however, the obliterated wedding party may be the true signature strike of the post 9/11 era of American war-making, the strike that should, but never will, remind Americans that the war on terror was and remains, for others in distant lands, a war of terror, a fearsome creation to which we are conveniently blind.

Consider it a record.  For the period since September 11, 2001, we’re number one... in obliterating wedding parties!  In those years, whether we care to know it or not, “till death do us part” has gained a far grimmer meaning.

  1. I sincerely feel for the innocent men, women, and children that Fed.gov murders.
They don't do it in my name.

I wonder how that movie "Wedding Crashers" translates into the farsi language?

  2. Well hell, our government sucks at everything else, finally they've found a sport where they can actually excel, and spread terror at the same time. Truly a worthy undertaking.

What a concept. You kill the grandparents, the parents, the relatives, the children, the unborn grandchildren and all future generations with one shot. Sort of a "Terminator", gene-spliced with the Minority Report "precrime" solution, don't you think? So few times the "whole" family turns out. Let's see there's weddings, funerals, births, birthdays - and, well you get the idea. We are actually paying some psycho to think up this shit and then DO IT!

    [Head in hand]
What has happened to us America? We used to be the light of the world - now we embrace the heart of darkness, and look away as these atrocities are committed.

Forgive us Father, for we know not what we do...

[If we do know, how can we ask for forgiveness.]

    1. Beautiful. God only forgives those who ask for it. He damns the ones who don't. He reserves a special place in hell for those who kill in His name.

  3. Sorry. "America" is not WE, and it never was "the light of the world". Starting with the genocide of Native Americans, the American gov't has left war, terror, death and in its wake throughout the world. Native Americans, Hawaiians, Philipinos, Southern civilians, Vietnamese, Laotians, Cambodians, Iraqis, Iranians, Afghans. There is a long list of people the so called "light of the world has slaughtered, and there's no end in sight.

    1. Point well taken, but I was not referring to the monster that is government, but WE as a people.

I would also respectfully submit, that there IS an end in sight. The mere fact that we are having this discussion in an open forum that is being followed all over the world, shines the light of truth in dark corners and causes the roaches to scatter...
