VIDEO Must View!! Brilliant!! LOL!! Peter Schiff Takes on the Demand for Higher Wages Called for at WalMart by Wage Agitators

Peter Schiff writes:

Walmart touts "Everyday Low Prices," but we asked its customers to support 'Everyday High Wages" instead. We posed as representatives of "15 for 15," a make-believe organization advocating that Walmart raise prices by 15% and use the extra cash to pay its low-skilled workers $15 dollars per hour. Not surprisingly few shoppers supported our cause. Even those who felt Walmart workers should be paid more did not want to pay higher prices themselves to make it possible. Those demanding higher wages for Walmart's workers should consider the importance of low prices to Walmart's customers.

  1. Its just perfect how people who dont understand price controls advocate something that helps other until they realize its at their expense lol

  2. Who cares what consumers think? Consumers are a given in the economy. Raise prices as much as you want.

    2. a rag-doll punching-bag for rookie anarco-capitalists to cut their teeth on, jerry wolfgang comes in handy. where else can high school seniors, two chapters of "economics in one lesson" and maybe a couple stephan moleneux videos into their awakening, come on here and send him to the floor with one punch. The "Glass Joe", or Glass Jerry, of EPJ. What he lacks in the ability to defend himself he makes up for with sheer stick-to-it-iveness. i suspect a concussion.

    3. You're either thick as a plank or totally disingenuous. Customers are a given. That they shop at WalMart is not. Just ask Sears, J. C. Penney, or Kmart.

Until you can grasp the most basic economic concepts, you should hold off on the snarky comments.

    4. Idiot. How many times do you have to be told this? Everytime you think you've caught RW in a contradiction, someone has to remind you of the basics. Grow up and get a clue.

  4. Hell with you!! If you truly cared about the American worker, you would not do the ridiculous stunts you performed today..you would require the SAMS and Walmart family...truly their heirarchy..the folks that live off of Americas back, to pay their employees what is fair, not inflate a good by 15%....one of the most innane arguments I have ever listened to...these folks have made billions annually off of Americans backs, really...soo, there is no way to actually take care of their emplyees??? Well, maybe they have gotten too big...suck it up..shrink your size, but do not screw your loyal workers!!!

(these loyal workers, hmmmm who would presumably stick with you even if offered something better...no? And they made billions because millions of Americans choose to shop there.....and go back. )

    3. You dumb ass.
Why would anyone damage their own company because of some economic illiterates whining? What world do you think you're living in? Fantasy land? Grow up already.
They made billions of Americans' backs? It is all the result of VOLUNTARY EXCHANGES, idiot. Ever heard of free choice? Customers through the free choice to shop there make Walmart money. THAT is how Walmart make billions.
Those employees CHOSE to work there, regardless of the salary. Nobody forced them. Maybe you should ask why they apparently cannot get higher paid jobs anywhere else (which these "loyal" employees would jump for, by the way). Without the likes of Walmart, who would hire them? Walmart offers them jobs. They don't even owe them THAT. Without Walmart, where would they be?
Loyal employees, what a joke. Like they're sticking with Walmart because they have such a soft spot for it. They're sticking with it because Walmart is apparently the only company that is willing to give them something for their labor.

Pay them what is "fair". People like you never think with your brains, but with your nervous system. You couldn't possibly even logically analyze and conclude what is "fair" because it is nothing but an emotive word backed up by nothing but socialist brainlessness. $15 bucks an hour is fair? Then why are low prices "fair"? Can you explain that? Can you logically explain why Walmart owes the customer cheap prices? THEY aren't working for Walmart, are they? Because it's "fair" for entrepreneurs and businesses to live a life of duty and subservience to the masses? To hell with THAT.

You know damn well what would happen if Walmart raises its prices (which it technically could because it certainly doesn't owe "economic fairness" to customers, who can shop wherever they like). What would happen is Walmart fails business, and people get fired.
You socialists try to work around this obvious REAL WORLD problem by expecting philanthropy by Walmart in not only raising salaries but also keeping prices low, as if they owe society a pound of flesh.

    4. I guess "anonymous" needs to read Economics in One Lesson if he believes Walmart as evil. Walmart, Sams, etc. have done more for the poor than anything government has ever even thought of never mind tried to implement. I guess he/she doesn't understand basic economics. did they even watch Schiff's video? well, I'm off to evil Walmart to get some really low-priced goods for the entire family. I'll also load up at Sam's Club on the way home.

  5. They want higher wages as long as it doesn't come out of their pocket. Just like people who want more government spending as long as someone else pays for it. The more you learn about human nature the less hope you have.

    3. Humans respond to incentive, Wags. Centralized power allows a lot of humans the opportunity to appropriate themselves wealth by the political means. The scum rises to the top when civilization is organized in such a way. If you want hope, hope for a more decentralized future. Human nature is pretty brilliant when you consider its capacity for reducing the need for non-pleasurable work. Give humans the right incentive and good things happen. Give them the wrong one and...well, just take a look at the history of imperialism and mercantilism to get an idea.

    4. I'm pretty sure Wags is hoping for a more decentralized future.
The people demanding 15 bucks an hour minimum wage, however, most certainly do not have such hopes. Just like the big businesses who get advantages from state power do not have such hopes.
Democracy is nothing but a system where all live at the expense of all (paraphrasing H.L. Mencken i believe).
