Facebook: Princeton May Be In Danger of Disappearing Entirely

There is little that is as much fun as a battle between elitists.

MarketWatch reports:
As feuds go, this is sophomoric stuff. Appropriately.

In the wake of a study by a pair of Princeton University graduate students suggesting that Facebook could lose as much as 80% of its user base within a few years, the social-networking company — hatched, of course, in a dormitory at Princeton’s Ivy League rival Harvard (during founder Mark Zuckerberg’s, yes, sophomore year) — has responded with a doomsday report of its own. (After first dismissing as “nonsense” the Princetonian Ph.D. candidates’ headline-grabbing work.)

In the riposte, Facebook researcher Mike Develin quips that he used the same methodology as the Princeton study.

“In keeping with the scientific principle ‘correlation equals causation,’ ” he writes, “our research unequivocally demonstrated that Princeton may be in danger of disappearing entirely.”
