ObamaCare: America's Health Care Future in Germany's Past?

Richard Ebeling emails:
Dear Bob,

I have a new article on the news and commentary website, "EpicTimes," on "ObamaCare: America's Health Care Future in Germany's Past?"

As we face the implementation of ObamaCare I suggest there are lessons to be learned by briefly looking back at the country where the modern welfare state and government mandated national health care all began: Bismarck's Imperial Germany in the late 19th century.

I explain the political manipulative motives that were the basis of its implementation by Bismarck; how it was a element of the German "progressive" vision of imposing a government "cradle-to-grave" system of paternalism; and how it resulted in distortions, abuse, mismanagement, and massive costs that did little to necessarily "improve" the health of the German people; and how it became a natural part of the Nazi system of control and planning after Hitler came to power in the 1930s.

I suggest that we need escape from our version of such a system as soon as possible, and establish a truly free market alternative, instead.

Best,
Richard
