The REAL Bundy Ranch Story: Feds Forced to Retreat

Here is the video that shows that the BLM did NOT simply "leave" and return the Bundy cattle. They were going to KEEP the cattle until they were confronted by Bundy family supporters.

A few things to note:

1. The government agents were clearly outnumbered. If there were more of them and better prepared, with water cannons, tear gas etc., the outcome would have been different.

2. This might not be over. The government doesn't like to lose showdowns. The only thing that may keep the government away is the blowback that is developing against Senate majority leader Harry Reid since the BLM operation at the Bundy Ranch was exposed as an operation to benefit crony Reid-China deal (SEE: Is Harry Reid Behind The BLM SWAT-type Move at the Bundy Ranch?)

3. Both sides are going to use this as a teaching moment. The government will use it to study what went wrong and how to deal with such a situation in the future.. The protesters, and their supporters around the country, will use this as a rallying point to show that aggressive government can be confronted and stopped. It will likely lead to escalation at similar confrontations down the road.

4. It is generally not a good idea to confront the government directly.

UPDATE:

Ben Swann is reporting: Sources Inside The BLM and Las Vegas Metro Say Feds Are Planning A Raid On Bundy Home

As reported yesterday, hundreds of federal agents are still at the Bundy Ranch and the area continues its status as a no-fly zone. Despite major media reports that the Nevada Bureau of Land Management is retreating, the remaining activity that still surrounds the ranch illustrates a different scenario.

Not only is the BLM not actually backing off of Cliven Bundy, Sheriff Richard Mack of the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association has revealed stunning information: on Ben Swann’s radio program, Mack said that he has received intelligence from multiple, credible sources inside the BLM and the Las Vegas Metro that there is “no question” that the federal government is planning a raid on the Bundy home and the homes of their children who live on the property.

According to Mack, the so-called retreat was nothing more than theatrics. “It was a ploy to get people to back off, to get people out of the way. They weren’t expecting us to get this amount of people here. They were surprised by the numbers and so they wanted a way to get us out of here. This was a ploy to get us out of here and then they’re going after the Bundys.”  Mack said that when he was at the Bundy ranch on Saturday there were an estimated 600 to 800 protesters present when federal agents were releasing the cattle.

The interview is here.

  1. There is no way the Feds are giving up that easily. I expect there is more to come...perhaps the worst.

    1. "If there were more of them and better prepared, with water cannons, tear gas etc., the outcome would have been different."

The crowd was holding their hands above their heads as they advanced to show that they WEREN'T armed.

The Feds didn't retreat. It was theatrics.

This is why you don't register firearms, people.

  2. "It is generally not a good idea to confront the government directly." Nor is it a safe idea to confront the government directly. But sometimes that is your only choice.

    1. Agreed. It would be one thing such as doing what Kokesh did by taking the first act in a area that is not lived by you. This scenario is where the government is taking over somebody's livelihood. It's them taking the first act into a land that is not lived by them so the whole "It is generally not a good idea to confront the government directly." doesn't really apply. Otherwise, we'll be spinning our wheels of where do we draw the line if we apply to both scenarios?

  3. I have read a great deal about how people stand no chance against the govt in armed confrontations on sites like this one. The arguments are that people won't show up bc they are too scared of the govt, the govt would just mow down people, the govt has superior training, the govt has better arms, etc.

We saw all of those myths demolished this weekend. Those views were reliant upon a number of faulty premises - ignoring that wars are always political, not understanding 4GW concepts and strategy, and ridiculous Hollywood inspired ideas about the mindset and fighting ability of the Feds. It ignores that federal "law enforcement" agents are fine when it is their time to be the hammer, but not the nail. Did you ever wonder why cops need ten agents to storm an old grandma's house for smoking medical marijuana? Or why Chris Dorner could shut down an entire major police dept like the LAPD? Or why two teenagers shut down the entire city of Boston and still one of them was found by a citizen, not the cops?

The combo of the Internet and social media capturing what almost happened this weekend is the modern day version of Tet. Tet was a military disaster and complete America strategic win, but it was a major political loss and disaster. On a more practical matter, these fed agents who were playing commando dress up were terrified of people actually being able to shoot back. They were outflanked and outgunned, and would have suffered humiliating defeat - that is the major reason they backed down. Make no mistake about it, there is a reason the same people like Feinstein who love the police state are doing their best to disarm the public. Had the protestors been unarmed, then the Feds would have never left. They were covered from every angle from people that included much better shots and I would eager actual combat vets - not Feds playing dress up who are used to bullying minorities and old people into submission by their mere presence.

Those who have the view that federal agents or even most of our military are sehoe good at shooting or have high levels training are speaking out of complete ignorance. The professional trainers and former delta and seal commandos will tell the exact same thing if you ask them - the avg cop at local or fed level is pathetic when it comes to actually shooting, and the mental toughness and mindset is even worse. The only exceptions are those who grew up shooting and are gun enthusiasts - and those tend to be the oath keeper types anyway who would not fire on civilians. I speak from experience bc I have shot with and know plenty of fed and military types, and the training they get these days is just plain awful other than the special operations groups in the military.

Lastly, the idea of the Feds crushing civilians sounds good in a two dimensional war. But what if it was a 4th gen war? Totally different outcome, and one the Feds would not win - which is why they try so hard to disarm us. Don't take my word for it, here is what a former Delta Force member made famous from the movie black hawk down had to say, though it does require a bit of reading between the lines.

  4. 4. It is generally not a good idea to confront the government directly.

I agreed with you when you said this about Adam Kokesh and I will agree with you again. The state loves aggressors because they know that once someone attacks them they have the green light to use whatever force is necessary.

They know that for one group thats opposing them, the state can easily find one group that is sympathetic to them.

  5. Peaceful protest is the only way to confront a government. Direct confrontation is what they specialize in and train for every day of the year. There is no way they can let this stand since this is a direct challenge to their authority.

  6. Hey, where are all those war heroes now to defend from China and a lawless USG?

  7. The government will wait a month or two and then send midnight raiders. They will claim they are right. The people will be shocked and will make idle threats. Or, maybe not so idle threats. The government might get a taste of lead.

I don't want violence. It never solves problems, but it can send a message.

  8. According to Ben Swann the government retreated to dupe the militia into leaving, and that the BLM/SWAT teams will move in as soon as they can.

  10. This time it's real old-America ranchers vs Feds, not some isolated religious cults. If Feds try to get Cliven Bundy's family by force and murder them, the result will be that BLM rangers will end up being VERY afraid of going under the open skies. Taking potshots at them will become the national sport, and some people will learn how to construct IEDs and plant them under rural roads. The ranchers aren't any stupider than Iraqis, and they also know where the rangers live. If I were a BLM employee, I'd be telling to my manager in no uncertain terms that they have to do what they can to stop the escalation. Nobody likes to live with the target circles on the chest.
