A Racist in San Francisco?

Last night, I stopped by Les Joulins Jazz Bistro, where Bill "Doc" Webster and his band were playing. I noticed that all the accompanying band players were white. I thought this fairly unusual for a jazz band.

During a break, I asked Doc why they were all white. He replied, "I like people who show up on time."

Doc really knows his jazz history. He introduces all his songs with history that you are unlikely to have heard before. During breaks, he usually sits outside and is approachable. He's a lefty, but he is fun to debate and respects a libertarian argument presented well.
