Cato President Preparing to Depart

Word on the street is that John Allison, the President and CEO of the Cato Institute, is preparing to retire.

One name being tossed around to replace him is Alex McCobin.  McCobin is co-founder and president of Students For Liberty. He lists as his favorite figures in liberty the Koch Correct names: Ayn Rand, Robert Nozick, & F.A. Hayek.

McCobin is no friend of Ron Paul.

Here's David Weigel back in March on a McCobin-Paul dust up over Russia's action in Crimea:
That didn't take long. On Monday, Students for Liberty founder Alexander McCobin came out swinging for the Cato wing of the libertarian movement, and criticized Ron Paul's statements on the Crimea crisis. Today Daniel Adams, executive director of the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity, published a piece denouncing McCobin's "screed" and congratulating SFL for distancing itself from it.
