Another Video Emerges of Obamacare Architect Insulting Voters

A third video emerged Wednesday of MIT economist Jonathan Gruber, one of the architects of the Obamacare, insulting voters and suggesting their ignorance was exploited by those pushing passage of the health care law.

  1. Insulting voters? He's telling the truth. Voters, by and large, are ignoramuses.

  2. Gruber says the insurance companies passing the higher taxes on to the consumer is "very clever"?! They can only do this because of the government mandate. That's not clever that's just force. And this guy is an economist at MIT! Why is he making these statements? Is he really that stupid. His con (Obamacare et al) only works if his mark (taxpayers) remain unaware of his lies and tricks.

    1. IDK. I think, as you pointed out when you mentioned the mandate and force, that Obamacare only works if you can force enough people to absorb the higher taxes. Otherwise, the insurance companies will have to absorb those costs because they can't raise prices without losing revenue, otherwise they'd do it already. So unless there's a way to force people to accept higher prices they would otherwise refuse, The insurance companies will have to eat the cost of those tax increases.

  3. Here's to Obama-care blowback! Yes, the masses are economics ignorant, but "exploiting" ignorance and gloating about it is going to eventually bite you in the ass.

  4. Gruber and his cohorts didn't exploit ignorance as much as creating ignorance. Polls show the public was not and is not in favor of Omamacare and Gruber understands this. He is basically saying we know you didn't want this so we lied you into it. And he would do it again. In another interview he says he wishes there could be transparency but he would rather "have this legislation than not." My astonishment is why he makes these statements when he must know Obamacare remains very unpopular and has hurt the democrats in the election. Is he working for the republicans? Very strange.

There is a beltway mentality you're skirting around. In general, these pundits (this guy was paid $400k for what he did) feel that they are entitled to bring their vision of the "greater good" to the masses because they are entitled to do so. It's for the cause, they believe in it, and they are getting paid very well to find a way to push it. This is very much exploitation of the masses using multiple tactics. The same happens on the Republican side. They want "yes" men and surround themselves with them, which is why they are removed from the general public opinion. There is nothing but the status quo allowed or you don't get your shot at getting legislation with your name on it and all that K Street fame and fortune that goes along with it. DC is a whole 'nother universe from the rest of the country.
