In the US, the trend for life expectancy from here is going to be tugged at from 2 directions. Advances in medical science will have a tendency to increase expectancy BUT Obamacare is going to result in declining general care.
My review of the statistics suggest advances in medical science will have minimal impact on increasing life expectancies. The diseases that have the greatest impact on life expectancies have shown improvement due to life-style choices and personal hygiene (clean water, sewage treatment, safe sex). Medical science is likely to be a drain as it feasts on tax funding and provides minimal health care improvements.
