How Economists Came to Dominate the Conversation

  1. The article is typical mindless mush written by a non-Austrian. The reason "economists" are now so popular is because they put a pseudo-scientific jargon-filled sheen upon what is essentially a pretty simple and easily understood government program of organized theft and graft, our warfare-welfare state kleptocracy. Average people then assume that the whole thing is just too complicated and boring for them to understand and they leave it all to the "experts".

    1. My guess before I read it: Ron Paul

    2. I stopped reading when I found out he was relying on word count.

Another reason the word "economist" might appear more frequently, lately: Maybe the NYT was pushing their Keynesian economic beliefs more.

The thing that used to frustrate me most is how people of modest education are so willing to abandon their common sense to Phd's, technocrats, etc.

You say something like, "Look, you don't have to understand how they print money to understand that when they do, it devalues it and is morally wrong.", and they just shrug their shoulders. Some believe it some don't, but you don't even get close to capital distorted structures, etc...it's even the basic concept that everyone just seems to shrug off because they are told "it's for the common good" by these malfactors and they believe it.

It's amazing, they just accept it as truth. I'm talking about people that are normally level headed in most aspects of the other parts of their life.

In many ways I have given up. I'm of the opinion now(maybe wrongfully so) that most of those who are going to "get it" have by now and those that haven't probably won't ever(younger people excepted, they are still forming their ideals).

I've heard the most amazing things coming out of the mouths of people I used to respect justifying money printing, empire/war, & socialism when confronted with the truth.

I'm now just focused on taking care of my business & family. Let the chips fall where they may.

I come here & read LRC and a few other outlets just to commiserate and remind myself that I'm not crazy.
