Ebeling on VAT, Infrastructure Subsidies, and Government Policies

Richard Ebeling emails:

Dear Bob

While recently in Nassau in the Bahamas, I did a radio interview with talk show host, Juan McCartney, on one of  the most listened to Bahamian radio stations, which has now been posted on the Nassau Institute website.

In the interview, I discussed the negative consequences for the Bahamas from the recent introduction of a Value-Added Tax (VAT). I also questioned whether the more populated areas of the Bahamas should be taxed to subsidize the outer and smaller island infrastructure and other economic services provided to the residents of those islands by the government. And more generally, I discussed the types of economic policies that would more effectively bring greater prosperity and freedom to the people of the Bahamas.

The interview runs for about 30 minutes. (It may take a minute or two to load.)
