Krugman Backdoor Disses Zero Hedge

Paul Krugman begins his latest NYTcolumn, posted today, this way:
Ben Casselman reads an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal and declares,
It is, without exaggeration, one of the dumbest things I’ve ever read. And I read Zero Hedge.
For the record, I believe Zero Hedge does get carried away occasionally, but for sheer lunacy, distortion and sneakiness, there is not much that can compare to Krugman's misunderstanding and misrepresentation, of the coupon economics at a baby-sitting co-op, that is at the foundation of his economic thinking.

Compared to Krugman, Tyler Durden deserves the Nobel Prize in economics, physics and literature.

  3. [aka Stargazer] ZeroHedge is a valuable source of early-warning geopolitical/economic information. True, what is posted needs to be taken with a grain of salt. But, except for the comment section (very trashy), it is worth reading several times a day.

    1. ZH comment section is like the bar at Mos Eisley in Star Wars. A great mix of of trolls, regulars, newbies, etc. It self-identifies as "Fight Club." The comments are the best part of that site.

  5. Which makes more sense? Report the actual numbers and then let people rationally account for the "seasonal differences", or turn the numbers into "adjusted" numbers through a process subject to political and financial bias. "Oh the public is too stupid to understand." This is how people like Gruber and Krugman make millions of dollars and have influence upon policy. And it is how the rest of us can be prevented from making sense of what the hell is going on. Lay back and enjoy it!
