Looks like the compliance officer at Coinbase has a bone to pick with several high level purchasers. As documented here in this Reddit thread more than a few people are seeing their accounts frozen when buying in large quantities.I repeat: Bitcoin is a very trackable payment method and Bitcoin currency exchange operators will have to do the work of government surveillance agencies or lose their license.
I like the fact that my precious metals can't have their "account" frozen, and buying small amounts doesn't leave me dealing with compliance officers.
