Never Hire Paul Krugman as a Consultant

I want to make one more comment about Paul Krugman's recent statement on Greece.

As I reported earlier, over the weekend, Krugman, during an interview with  Fareed Zakaria on CNN, said about Greek officials:
…it didn’t even occur to me that they would be prepared to make a stand without having done any contingency planning ...amazingly - they thought they could simply demand better terms without having any backup plan.
So what exactly was he doing in the middle of the crisis back in April, when he flew to Greece and met in Athens with Greek President  Prokopis Pavlopoulos?

Was this just a BS photo op? If he was really consulting with Greek officials, wouldn't his first question be: "What is your plan?"

  1. I know that it's petty and superficial of me, but is Krugman wearing black sneakers to a meeting with the Greek pres? It's not that I have any special regard for politicians, but this being presumably a formal setting, I would expect a bit of civility and culture.

  2. What is the USG's backup plan? Just curious...

  3. PK listen; ask questions? Maybe tomorrow.

  4. PK strikes me as the type that will tell them what their plan is, not ask what it is.
