Several American citizens went missing in Baghdad on Sunday evening, according to U.S. officials in the Iraqi capital.
The U.S. embassy was “aware of reports” of the missing Americans but declined to specify how many were missing or their last known locations.
Iraqi media said three Americans had been abducted while visiting the home of their Iraqi interpreter in the southern suburb of Doura. A group of gunmen in Iraqi military uniforms raided the home and seized the men at gunpoint, the reports said.
