On Monday, New Zealand's Labor Party leader, Andrew Little, announced that the country will consider implementing a version of a "basic income."
The party will discuss the feasibility of basic income curiously at the Future of Work conference later this month--sounds more like the Future of Loafing conference.
Little gave no details as to where this "free" money will come from.
The keynote speaker at the conference will be lefty, union tool, Robert Reich.

ReplyDeleteNew Zealand and Australia are places where there are large welfare systems. I did calculations for Australia and a BGI would only cost 30% more than the current system because the overheads of administering the current system are so high.
