The United States is expected to impose sanctions on multiple Iranian entities as early as Friday following Tehran's recent ballistic missile test, reports Reuters.
One source, who spoke to Reuters on the condition of anonymity, said about eight Iranian entities were to be sanctioned, or "designated" in U.S. legal jargon, for terrorism-related activities and about 17 for ballistic missile-related activities under separate existing U.S. executive orders.
This reminds me of a quote that Milton Friedman quoted when he was asked about tariffs. It came from someone from the 1800s but I forget who. He said, basically, that in times of war, we try to blockade our enemies to keep them from getting goods from outside sources. In times of peace, we do to ourselves what we do to other countries in times of war.
