U.S. Jobless Claims Near 44-Year Low; What's Ahead

The number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits fell to near a 44-year low. Yet another problem for Austrian-lites who expected a December 2015 Fed rate hike to crush the economy and cause the Fed to perhaps lower rates to negative territory.

What happened instead was yet another rate hike, a climbing real estate market, a record-setting stock market and crashing unemployment.

This is not what a recession looks like.

That said, for the first time since the recovery started, as I report in the EPJ Daily Alert, I am seeing strong counter-trends to the recovery that may lead to problems later in the year.

It's still too early to tell what will happen but  ALERT readers will be well ahead of the pack when indicators start flashing more clearly.

  1. So you are okay with the government lying about the jobs numbers? Total BS! Shadowstats has a double digit unemployment rate.
