Firefighters are battling a 4-alarm fire at a three-city block building under construction in the hip, gentrified Uptown area of Oakland, California.#BREAKING: 4-alarm structure fire triggers evacuations in Oakland near 24th and Valdez. https://t.co/MHFlHIrkWx pic.twitter.com/ByBP5MuMfR— ABC7 News (@abc7newsbayarea) July 7, 2017
It is much too early to determine for certain but there is some suspicion that the fire may have been deliberately set by radical anti-growth activists.
The Oakland area is a hot bed for left anarchists, socialists, anti-growth and anti-gentrification groups. Another building recently under construction that went down in flames earlier this year was recently ruled arson.
