Inspector General to Review Mnuchin’s Mysterious Flight to Fort Knox; Was He Living Out a Carly Simon Moment with His Trophy Wife?

The U.S. Treasury’s Office of Inspector General is reviewing the flight taken by Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and his trophy wife, Louise Linton, last week to Louisville and Fort Knox, Ky., following criticism of their use of a government plane on a trip that involved viewing the solar eclipse.

“We are reviewing the circumstances of the Secretary’s August 21 flight . . . to determine whether all applicable travel, ethics, and appropriation laws and policies were observed,” counsel Rich Delmar wrote in a statement to The Washington Post late Thursday.

“When our review is complete, we will advise the appropriate officials, in accordance with the Inspector General Act and established procedures,” Delmar added.

This is the infamous private flight taken on a government jet that Muchin's bride tagged an Instagram photo with the high fashion brand name clothes and accessories that she had with her on that flight

There is some speculation that Mnuchin was acting out with his trophy wife a line in the song, "You're So Vain," but with government resources.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was with Mnuchin on the day of his trip which coincided with the totality of the recent solar eclipse passing over Fort Knox.

McConnell's Facebook page announced that they had watched the eclipse from the roof of Fort Knox.

Since then the Facebook page has been changed removing any mention of the rooftop in its caption of to the photo.

The Treasury has denied that Mnuchin, McConnell and the young Mnuchin bride viewed the eclipse from the roof of Fort Knox. The Treasury says they flew all that way and just watched it from the lawn outside the Fort Knox gold depository.

But as I have previously reported, the wifey seems to have a thing for big events, real and imagined.

Roof top viewing of a total solar eclipse from the gold depository would fit right in.
