China Responds to Trump's Flip-Flop on Tariffs

America's stable genius
The Chinese government has reacted in a statement to President Trump's flip-flop on tariffs.

Just days after the Trump administration indicated that a trade war was on hold, the President has decided to move ahead with tariffs of 25% on $50 billion worth of Chinese imports. (See: Trump Panics; Slaps 25% Tariff on $50 Billion in Chinese Imports).

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce is now accusing the White House of going back on its word, even as it hinted that Beijing expected such a reversal.

“We feel surprised by the tactical statement issued by the White House, and yet it was also unsurprising,” a statement from the ministry said, adding that China would “defend the interests of the Chinese people and core national interests.”

“This is clearly contrary to the consensus that China and the U.S. reached not long ago in Washington,” the statement said.

The White House also said it would move forward with restrictions on Chinese investment in the United States.

In other words, all actions that will shrink global enterprise and shrink the standards of  living for both American and Chinese people.
