TRADE WAR ESCALATION: Beijing to Retaliate Against Latest Trump Tariffs
Beijing said it would retaliate immediately after the Trump administration announced today that it will impose tariffs on $50 billion of goods from China, reports the Wall Street Journal.
China’s Commerce Ministry, in a statement moments after the Trump announcement, said Beijing will immediately launch tariffs on American goods in “equal scale and equal strength” to the U.S. measures. A Foreign Ministry spokesman said the U.S. is “provoking a trade war,” compelling Beijing to defend national interests.
Thus hurting Chinese consumers because Trump has decided to hurt U.S. consumers. #TradeWarLogic
